#1 Tioga County Adventure
Spend a couple of days enjoying all that Tioga County has to offer. You’ll get overnight accommodations (1 queen bed, 1 set of bunk beds) at River of Pines Cottages’s smaller cabin, a copy of Linda Stager’s Pine Creek Rail Trail Guidebook, as well as 2 bike rentals and a shuttle ride from Pine Creek Outfitters. Wellsboro House in Wellsboro has donated a $50.00 gift certificate to help you fuel up before you ride or refuel after you ride.
This package must be used between April 22, 2019 and October 31, 2019. A date must be selected by May 31, 2019 to allow everyone involved to secure the date on their schedules.
River of Pines Cottages does require a security deposit when you make your reservation to cover any property damage during the visit.
River of Pines Cottages already has the cabin rented for the following dates:
- May 20 to June 2 (Memorial Day)
- June 12 to June 16 (Laurel Fest)
- June 27 to July 14 (Fourth of July)
- August 26 to September 8 (Labor Day)
- October 10 to October 20 (Columbus Day)
#2 Kayak Then Cocktails and Dinner
Adrienne Craig (a NPC Board Member) and Steve Belcher are offering you use of their 4 kayaks (and all equipment) for a day trip on Pine Creek (Torbert to Jersey Shore) or the West Branch Susquehanna River (Wayne Township to Jersey Shore). They’ll meet you at the access with their kayaks and pick you and the kayaks up in Jersey Shore. (Or some arrangement, but you’ll get to kayak and you’ll get back to your car).
Apres kayaking Steve will serve as your bartender for cocktails, and Adrienne will have hors d’oeuvres and a vegetarian or pescatarian dinner underway.
This is for 6 to 8 people at Adrienne and Steve’s Nippenose Valley home. You can have non-kayaking friends join you for the cocktails and dinner, or 2 to 4 additional people can bring their own kayaks and a shuttle worked out.
The event must be held between May 1, 2019 and September 30, 2019 on a date mutually agreeable.
#3 Sullivan County Saunter
Sullivan County native, professional forester, and NPC Board member Aaron Lewis is offering a guided hike for 6 people on a property owned by Dwight Lewis Lumber Company.
The exact location will be determined in part by the date selected for the hike. Different properties owned by the Lumber Company have features that can be highlighted during different times of the year. Aaron will also consider the group’s desired distance and pace when deciding where to suggest for the outing.
Former NPC Board member, Mary Cosgrove, knows that hiking makes you hungry so she is sponsoring a picnic lunch from the Hillsgrove Store.
The hike must be held between May 5, 2019 and October 6, 2019.
#4 Dinner at the Perley
Dr. Heister Linn and Bob Elion are ready to put their culinary skills to work. They are offering to cook dinner for a group of 8. Dr. Linn will host the group at his home, the Perley Mansion (also spelled as “Pearley”), on Vallamont Drive.
The house was built C.R. Harris. Mr. Harris made his fortune in the suspender buckle industry, not the lumber industry like so many of his contemporaries. Harris quickly sold the home to A.P. Perley. The sale may have been completed before the house was completed. The home was owned by a descendent of A.P. until the 1930s.
The event must be held between May 1, 2019 and September 30, 2019 on a date mutually agreeable.
