Thanks to the generosity of a conservation-minded individual, the Conservancy was the recipient of a beautiful, nearly 8-acre property outside of Blackwell. The property is bordered to the east by the Pine Creek Rail Trail and to the west by Pine Creek. It contains nearly 3,100 feet of frontage along Pine Creek.
The donor wanted to be assured that her father’s work of preserving the property and its creek frontage would be protected for future generations to enjoy. The Conservancy maintained the property for almost a year, and with the donor’s support, sold the Blackwell property subject to a conservation easement which prohibits subdivision and future development on the property.
At the donor’s request the easement also provides for a greenway along Pine Creek that is open for public access, allowing fishermen, birders, and walkers to enjoy the beauty of Pine Creek.
