You may wonder why NPC chose the name “Mountain Laurel Guild” for this giving circle. The decision was inspired by the remarkable conservation story of the mountain laurel itself. In 1913, Elizabeth Britton recognized the urgent need to conserve mountain laurel, as excessive harvesting for floral arrangements threatened its existence. Thanks to early conservation efforts, mountain laurel has made a remarkable comeback, thriving in our forests today.
