Join retired Southern Tioga teacher Julie Weaver for a special story hour and art activity all about rivers and how we can keep them clean.
Julie will read a river themed story, then guide participants in creating their own river inspired artwork. This artwork will become part of a larger water themed quilt that celebrates our local waterways and the importance of keeping them healthy.
This is part one of a two part project, but you do not need to attend both to participate.
🔹 10:00 AM session is for preschoolers and their caregivers
🔹 1:30 PM session is for school age children
🔹Free to attend, but registration strongly encouraged
🔹 Call the Blossburg Memorial Library at 570-638-2197 to register
Blossburg’s rich coal mining history and the ongoing restoration of the Tioga River are coming together! Rivers, Coal & Crafts is an exciting series of community events that launched this spring, connecting residents and visitors with the land, water, and stories that shaped this region.
Through hands-on workshops, craft projects, and storytelling, participants of all ages are learning about the decades-long impacts of Abandoned Mine Drainage (AMD) on the Tioga River—and how the Northcentral Pennsylvania Conservancy and its partners are working together to restore the river and its surrounding landscape for future generations.
